A little bit about Me!

Hi, I am Mackenzie Alderson. I'm in my first year of studies at the University of Auckland, and I'm studying a bachelor of commerce and design.

I have always had a huge interest in fashion design and social media. I find it so intriguing that the way things are marketed and portrayed within our society can have such a large impact on consumers. With social media becoming such a core part of our day to day lives, I think that it is so important to be able to express your ideas to the rest of the world and be an inspiration to others, and use social media in a positive light.

Alongside my exciting design degree, within my commerce degree my majors are marketing and innovation and entrepreneurship. I chose these majors because I believe they tie in with the delicious new design degree and I wanted to expand my background knowledge of the business world. I have always had a passion for coming up with start-up business ideas and I would love to be able to use my design degree to bring these ideas to life! At the end of this degree, I see myself working in jobs that possibly aren't even invented yet! I would love to be able to work for myself and own my own company! I could also see myself working within the fashion industry, or for a magazine company. 

I really enjoy in my spare time to make mood boards and thinking of possible future business ventures. You never know when an exciting new door is going to open! I also love the outdoors, going to the beach and shopping!

What I expect to get out of this degree is an eye opening experience in how to express my creativity and be wild. I want to learn new tools to develop my skills. I am a keen learner, and will give anything a go. I always go that extra mile to ensure I put my best foot forward. I like to be super 'extra' and do everything to a high standard.
